Lake Regional Health System | Thrive | Winter 2019

Check out our Caring for Our Community album at facebook.com/lakeregional for more photos of the people and events that make our community great. SPOTLIGHT COMMUNITY lakeregional.com 3 WOMEN’S HEALTH FAIR More than 100 women came to our Women’s Health Fair on Sept. 29 for free screenings and health information. Breast cancer survivor Cindy Addison was excited to see our new oncologist, Maggi Coplin, M.D. Dr. Coplin was her original oncologist in St. Louis. Now that Dr. Coplin is here — and now that Lake Regional Imaging Center offers 3-D mammograms — Addison is moving her care to Lake Regional Cancer Center. “This is great!” Addison says. “Goodbye, trips to St. Louis!” ALWAYS READY Lake Regional brings its Mass Casualty Incident trailer to community events throughout the lake region. The trailer is outfitted with worldwide satellite communication capability and contains medical response equipment for 100 people. Pictured with the trailer at the Eldon Turkey Festival on Sept. 29 is Tiffany Robinett, PCT. ART THERAPY Lake Regional’s Stroke Support Group painted fall scenes at its Oct. 17 meeting. Group member Joe Davinroy (standing, left) shared how painting has helped him strengthen his hands and his resiliency. Standing next to Davinroy is Crystal Lloyd, R.N., Lake Regional’s stroke coordinator. Also providing support for the group are Lake Fine Art Academy & Galleria in Osage Beach and Lake Regional Hospital Auxiliary. GO, BABY, GO! Camdenton LASER (Laker Afterschool Science, Engineering and Robotics) hosted a Go, Baby, Go event on Sept. 22. This national program gives preschoolers with limited mobility a tot- sized powered car adapted to their needs. Lake Regional physical and occupational therapists worked with LASER students to customize each car to the child receiving it. Pictured are Lake Regional Physical Therapist Taren Kirk, DPT, with Logan Williams and his mom, Patricia Lumb. Auxiliary named best in state The Missouri Association of Hospital Auxiliaries named Lake Regional Health System Auxiliary a 2018 Auxiliary of the Year. “Our volunteers range in age from 18 to 91, and we all are pledged to serve our patients and their families, our hospital and our community,” says Jayne Brown, Auxiliary president. “We encourage anyone who wants to serve others, develop skills and make new friends to join us.” Pictured are Nancy Groves, Auxiliary vice president; Brown; and Carolyn Solomon, Auxiliary secretary.
