According to a new report, they are mental health, substance abuse and an inability to pay for medical care. Lake Regional Health System produced the report, the 2018 Community Health Needs Assessment , with several community partners. “The goal is to take a comprehensive look at factors affecting the health of our community so we can better meet local health needs,” says Tom Williams, vice president of Employee and Community Development. To gather the data, Lake Regional invited residents of Camden, Miller and Morgan counties to complete a health needs survey. Lake Regional also participated in community focus groups, where participants identified local health care problems and barriers, as well as available resources and potential solutions. Already, Lake Regional is partnering with public health agencies, local schools and other community organizations to address the identified needs. Read on to see some of what’s planned.
